About SmartYoga
There is this little voice in your mind that says things like “I’m better than everyone else”, “I can lift 200 pounds”, ” I can run faster”. Let’s call this little voice EGO. Sometimes, our ego can help us master competition and sometimes that little ego can lead to many injuries when it comes to our physical practice.
In SmartYoga we want to let go of our ego. In SmartYoga we want to heighten our body awareness, so we can scan our physical and mental condition. With a better body awareness, we are able to give the response to our needs in this moment. In SmartYoga there is no competition with other practitioners; there is only you and the teacher in the room.
We are all the same at some point, but at the same time we are very different. From an anatomically standpoint, we all have the same skeletons, muscles and organs. But every skeleton is built differently, every mass and strength of the muscle is different and everyone’s organs work on its own pace. Most importantly, every mind is different. Therefore, everyone’s physical practice needs to be different.
Every human being is going through changes through out a life time: there is the change from High School to College and from College to a career and there is change in relationships. Our relationship to our parents, to our friends and partners changes. Every one is going through different phases in a life time. Sometimes we don’t notice those changes because they don’t happen over night. Sometimes it takes us years to realize that we have changed.
What a lot of people don’t recognize is that there is a change from month to month; from week to week; from day to day. The pizza we ate last week, we don’t want to eat this week; the beach we went to last year, we don’t want to go this year. It’s the same with our physical practice. It doesn’t matter what practice we choose, it doesn’t bring any good if we force ourselves to do a routine workout when our body is asking for something else.
Every person, every mind is different, therefore the practice must be tailored to the individual’s needs.
A SmartYoga session evaluates your physical and mental condition every time you start your session. You need to be aware of your physical and mental condition first, before you can have a beneficial practice.
SmartYoga doesn’t end when the session ends. Yoga continues when you step out of your mat.
On your mat, you might be confronted with challenging physical postures. Some poses might look easy, but when you experience them, you will notice that they are quite challenging. In those poses , we learn to stay focused and calm. Those are qualities that might help us in any challenging situation in our daily life such as in our job or personal life.
SmartYoga is Yoga beyond the mat.
In SmartYog, we want to work with that change that naturally occurs in every one’s life. We need to adjust our physical practice accordingly, so we get the full benefits of our practice. |
